I just pulled a 12 inch hare out of my baby's bottom. Is that okay?

My hair is really long and gets everywhere. I opened up ds's nappy and there were a couple of hairs. I was just pulling one out and it was a bit stuck. It was actually coming out of ds's bottom. He must have eaten it. Now I'm worried that he might get hair wrapped around his internal organs or something. Or get furballs at the very least.

Should I be worried?

Should I shave my head?

Glad you said hair in your op and not hare as in your thread tile -had visions of magic tricks with a difference in the broccolispears house

IAmNotHere · 03/12/2008 11:34

You know, magicians pulling rabbits out of hats is a little passe, you could be onto a new form of sorcery.

Contact the Magic Circle and wear a hairnet.

BroccoliSpears · 03/12/2008 11:34

I'm not going to get any sensible answers now am I.

Oh dear. Makes for a far more intersting thread though...

I'm not even going to ask why you were pulling hairs out of his nappy in the first place

Seeline · 03/12/2008 11:36

lol at heading!! On a serious note though I don't think the hair will do any damage - I too had long hair and had similar experiences with both LOs (now 7 and 4 and apparently unscathed!)

OrmIrian · 03/12/2008 11:36

Did you say abracadabra?

OK..I know the joke's been made

Threadworrm · 03/12/2008 11:37

Sorry. Serious advice now:

Do check the next nappy for the Mad Hatter and the Dormouse.

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 03/12/2008 11:37

.im sure hairis ok.if hes eating it maybe put it up.hares on the other hand-i can just see you in magicians hat pulling hare out of nappy!

jingleMAMADIVAsbells · 03/12/2008 11:37

Broccoli dont worry about it, my hair sheds everywhere

He probably hasnt eating it they probably just got stcuk there when you were last changing him, in his nappy or something.

You dont have to shave your hair off just tie it back if it makes you feel better I always tie my hair back after I had a big dried lump of shit on my hair which was pointed out when I was walking through town shops

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 03/12/2008 11:38

pmsl at orm and threadworm

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/12/2008 11:38

Unless your hair is as strong as a wire I wouldn't worry about it doing any damage, and it's not as if you're feeding him bunches of the stuff! It's inevitable he'll eat some hair until he's old enough to realise he shouldn't eat off the floor etc

Anyway I'll see your hair and raise you the elastic hair bobble we found in ds's nappy at about 8 months old...

SnowMuchToBits · 03/12/2008 11:39

Lolol! I'm sure this thread will make the next news roundup!

When I read the title I thought "this must be some sort of wind-up".

Sorry, I don't have any advice re hairs though!

Smithagain · 03/12/2008 11:39

Sensible answer - no idea - but I also have very long hair and have also had the rather disturbing "ew, this hair is actually stuck up my baby's bum and LOOK how long it is, Oh my word it's still coming ..." experience. So you're not the only one. And the baby in question is six now, so she seems to be OK.

In fact come to think of it, she chews her own long hair now and there is no sign of hairballs.

But am still PMSL about the hare.

TheNewsMongersGeansaiNollag · 03/12/2008 11:39

yes, add me to the list!!

ForeverOptimistic · 03/12/2008 11:40

Lol.

MarmadukeScarlet · 03/12/2008 11:40

LOL @ the title!

If he'd eaten it it would probably been digested.

Mercy · 03/12/2008 11:45

hahahahaha!

Years ago I saw something red sticking out of dd's bum when I was changing her nappy. I completely panicked and then realised she'd tried some red pepper the day before and it had just come through undigested (same happens to sweetcorn iirc)

I think mamadiva is right, it was probably just stuck to her from the previous nappy change

CharCharGaboriaInExcelsisDeo · 03/12/2008 11:45

PMSL @ hare I'm sure he'll be ok.
