Hi, I'm completely new to this site and really hoping someone can help. My 8 year od son was diagnosed last year with cyclic vomiting syndrome and I was googling for any new info when I came across this site. My son 'cycles' every 3 weeks with a vomiting episode lasting around 16 hours each time. Are there any Mums out there with children who have this, and if so, have you found anything or been prescribed anything that eases it? Thanks x

I don't know, but welcome to MN, and here's a bump for you..

I used to have CVS - for about 12 years I had a bout every 4 months, and would vomit for 12 hours. I kept a washing up bowl with a bottle of full sugar lemonade and a packet of chipsticks (for salt) under my bed so that after the initial vomit I could just go back to bed and stay there.

I stopped vomiting when I started getting full blown migraine, which I am able to stave off with migraleve.

Hi, thanks for replying, I am really struggling with support as no-one I know seems to have heard of this. how old were you when it started? My son was diagnosed a year ago (when he was 7) but the doctor has only just tried to treat him due to his age and the fact that his episodes are so close together now. he is on pitozifen tablets (Sanomigran) which has reduced the sickness but not the nausea, but also reduced the time span in between (last two were 11 days apart) Got to go back in 2 weeks, the doctor says there are a couple of drugs to try, but no cure, and he has warned us that CVS pre-disposes him to migraine.
Did your doctor ever try and stop it for you? Keep in touch, I posted on Netmums with this and didn't receive a single reply and I'm beginning to think I am on my own. x
