Is it normal for a 6 year old to still get croup?

My son who is 6 yrs and 4 months has croup again. He gets it every December, usually on NY Eve mind you.

I really expected him to have grown out of this by now, is it normal that he's still getting it?

He doesn't have asthma or anything but did have bronchiolitis as a baby and I wonder if its left him more prone to it.

I haven't taken him to the docs as I'm sure it will be gone by tomorrow. It sounds a bit "looser" tonight, as we're on night 3 with it.

Poor wee soul, I'll keep him off school tomorrow if he's still not sounding any better and perhaps make a docs appt. Although that may be pointless as they say its viral anyway don't they.

My ds, 7, has it for the first time. Took him to the doc this morning where they confirmed it, but they can't do anything about it they said, just to wait. He sounds awful especially in the mornings! Hope your Son gets better soon too!

Thanks Tippytoes, hadn't noticed your reply. My ds has been a lot better since Tuesday, how is your ds doing?
