Hi, dd is 5mo and had a cold last weekend (1st tooth made its appearence at the same time)

Since yesterday she has developed a barking cough that seems to be getting worse. She isnt drinking much milk - Sometimes only having 3oz instead of 6.

She seems to be herself and is smiling a lot as usual but is very pale.

Im worried that the cough could be something serious. If its still bad on Monday I will take her to the Gp but wondered if anyone has any experience of this? We are giving her Calpol as there are no chesty cough medicine for under 2's. Thanks.

Hello..

Just been through this with my 11m old, and thought you might be interested in her GP's advice to give nurofen rather than calpol, as it reduces inflammation, useful if DD's airways are inflamed.

In my DD's case it is viral, so otherwise not really treatable but was def worth the visit to the GP for peace of mind as he checked her for chest infections etc.

Thanks taliac. We were giving her Calprofen but she had really bad nappies and screamed with pain after giving it to her.

I might take her tomorrow to see what they say x
