DS(8 months) been poorly with the nasty cough/cold that's been going around for over two weeks. Last week he got worse, took him to GP he had an ear infection got ab's, which I gave him even though I hate them. He seemed to get better, started eating properly and coughing much less. As if he knew, within 5 mins of surgery closing last night he was bad again and refusing to eat. I have been up every 40 minutes BFing him as he is inconsolable if I don't. He refused to sleep in his cot and would only sleep(what little he did) right up against me(not like him.) I can't take another night like that as DH away for a week and I'm not well either. There is a Walk-in centre about half an hour away, but is nurses only. Do I go all pfb at casualty assuming that ear infection is back?

It could have spread to his other ear. Why don't you ring out of hours GP for advice?

Now that I have had a coffee have taken his temp and it is normal. Sure he would have fever if infected....Oh, bugger...will ring dr

Apparently we no longer have an out of hours doctor.

I would try the walk in center,we have a nurse led emergency system at our practice and the nurses are fantastic.I would expect that they will be nurse practioners so will be able to prescribe meds if necessary.

Rang NHS direct and they promised that someone attached to my surgery would ring back. Said it would be up to a 6 hour wait, though...
May just take him to walk-in when it opens at 9. Ugh.

Morning turtledove - Oh dear - I would take him to walk in center, some let you make appointments so you dont have to wait long like you would if you turned up, its worth ringing first.

I do remember by DS being very clingy and not wanting to sleep in his cot after being ill and he woke up wanting to be out because he had got used to additional fuss at night. I'm not saying that is what your DS is doinf just watch out for this when he's on the mend. I hope you get him seen

Big hugs for you both. x
