First aid training for parents - did you have any?

Hi,

I'm a fourth year medical student from Peninsula Medical school, Devon, and I am doing a project on first aid training for parents. I'm currently conducting a questionnaire to get an idea of training offered to parents and what sort of situations parents may be worried about experiencing with an young child (such as swallowing toys or if your child was choking).

If anyone is interested:

please could you send an email to [email protected]
so I can send you a questionnaire

or alternatively reply to this thread with any experience you may have of antenatal or postnatal infant/child first aid training

Thanks!

We had training in resuscitating babies. Taught by volunteers and we gave a donation. Can't remember their organisations name though.

The HVs did a postnatal course, and there was a session on choking/resus/burns. The SCBU that DS was in normally offered resus training before you were discharged, but the person who did it was on holiday when we were there.

didn't have anything - 18 and 15 years ago.
St John Ambulance do excellent publicly available courses, would recommend them to anyone

Had done First aid training through work (for adults, children and babies) but if I didn't have that IO would have liked something, including resus.
