Both DCs have just had chicken pox (5 and 18months). I took DS1 to football today thinking he was over it as his spots have crusted over and are fading (went back to school on Tuesday). After about 1/2 hour running about he cried and cried and look just like Tiny Tim.

Can anyone recommend tonics (apart from minadex) and diets for faddy children in need of a bit of TLC. Also, should probably know this but what is the appropriate level of excercise/ rest they should be doing/having after illness.

Talk to the doctor about a food supplement called duocal for the baby, its a carb powder that goes into food and milk.

For the big one have a look at the age on complan unfortunately the best is minadex, is there a medical reason why he cant have it.

In the old fashioned world they would have given malt extract, full fat milks and lots of little meals.

Try adding in supper before bed, even a slice of toast.

Also at breakfast was always told they gain better from small amount of cereal and a slice of toast, rather than one or the other,

Hope that helps

Thank you pinkie. Really does. Minadex makes him sick for some reason.

Hi,

Have a chat at a health store for the malt extract and "old fashioned" appetite enhancers.

I put my dd's minadex in a mouthful of orange juice into an anyway cup at breakfast as it can be a bit sickly and think it just takes the edge off.

Hope that helps
