5 yo DD1 has been complaining of pains in the top of her leg since last monday (I only found out on wednesday)She says it hurts in the right side of her groin and down the front of her thigh. She says it's the bones rather than the muscles. They come and go, are worse when she's tired or has been walking distances. Coincidently she seems taller and slimmer lately...Have booked her an appointment to see GP on monday but need reassuarance in the meantime...

dd was saying similar recently after starting school and doing a lot of walking. She is 4. Have heard other people say similar.

My boys always get pains in their legs when they have a growth spurt.

thanks, have tried not to google it but most links say its muscles not bone pain and that it is more likely in the calf or knees

i remember having growing pains when i was about 12 and it felt like it was in my thigh bones

sounds like growing pains, but my dcs (the boys, only) had it in their shins.
poor thing, it's horrid. Try a warm hot water bottle?

You've done the right thing to get her checked out by the GP - it could be simple growing pains, but they typically happen at night and not so often a specific area e.g the fact she is saying right groin/ thigh. So make sure you feel that the GP gives her a thorough check over, examines her hips and legs properly - if you're not reassured ask if he can refer you to a paeds physio or paediatric specialist if it carries on. Hope I haven't worried you more and hope all goes well monday.
