When will my little man start eating again?

DS1 had awful vomiting (7 times) on Monday night, then just once on Tuesday night. He's not been at school since Monday.

I can get him to have drinks, but he's renowned for a great, healthy appetite. For lunch I could only get him to eat one dried apricot. Breakfast was more successful with a large glass of milk and about 5 slices of banana.

Do you think it'll get back on track soon? He's very tired, understandably, but not ill in any way. Just tired and not eating properly yet.

Alos, DS2 is teething and keeps vomiting after eating in front of DS1. I'm beginning to wonder whether he's scared of eating in case he's sick again.

I wouldn't worry just yet. Poor ds1, horrible for him. Being that sick all in one night is absolutely exhausting and will have stripped his little tummy bare.

Is he drinking plenty?

Try a bland diet, bananas, rice, toast etc so his tummy isn't irritated too much and let him sleep as much as he wants till he feels better. Hope he's better and back at school soon.

DD, much younger than your ds1 by the sounds of it, doesn't eat for about a week after a sickness bug.

I have vivid memories of all having a vomiting bug - ds1 was 5 and ds2 was 3. It took a week for ds1 to eat something at meal times and 2 weeks for ds2 to manage anything other than milk. At least the milk and bananas have calories - it can really knock them for six.

Thanks, everyone. I guess I'll just keep offering him food and drinks and wait for the appetite to return.
