Would you give your DCs Medised to calm them down if they were being hyper?

no. Its like how they used to give babies gin.

wastingmyeducation · 19/11/2008 17:00

mmm... gin. But, no, no I wouldn't.

xx

stuffitllama · 19/11/2008 17:03

No, never. But many people seem to give Medised to help their children sleep. I would hope they wouldn't come on to flame you.

More info needed really on what you mean by hyper. Perhaps they just need a long walk or a runaround in the garden.

If you mean more than that, hyper in a different and uncontrollable way, then Medised is definitely not the answer and you would need to be trying other approaches, I would say.

Was told today by another mum at the school that it works for her kids!

i'd just go straight for the smack

sfxmum · 19/11/2008 17:10

it is worrying that it is seen as a solution to 'behavioural' problems
although we all know how hard things can get but surely drugging children to keep them subdued is never the answer

stuffitllama · 19/11/2008 17:13

oh it's not you coochy
in that case I will put on my judgey hat

strongly disapprove

coochybottom · 19/11/2008 17:13

My kids seem to get more hyper the more tired they are and get the past the point of no return.

Divvy · 19/11/2008 17:15

You could try, but that stuff tastes disgusting, and its difficult to give if they are on the ceiling!

If tired give them more sleep?

Divvy · 19/11/2008 17:18

My 20 month old when tired gets naughty, thats my queue to get her to bed!

You would think they would sit still if tired, but alas not

pagwatch · 19/11/2008 17:19

you might want to tell her that as medised contains additives it is actually likely , long term, to make any real hyperactivity worse.

Flier · 19/11/2008 17:19

er no

how old are your kids coochy?

coochybottom · 19/11/2008 18:10

6 year old id twin boys. A real handful at times!!!

OP posts:
Flier · 19/11/2008 18:14

medised may initially make them sleepy, but if you give it regularly it will make them over-drowsy. It also tastes absolutely disgusting. Bach rescue remedy can have a calming effect, and is safe for children.

Have you looked into their diet etc?

coochybottom · 19/11/2008 18:17

Think its a twin thing. Their diet is pretty good.
