I know I am probbaly worrying over nothing but please humour me DD has very mild asthma. She has woke up this morning and complained of a sore throat and headache she is also clearing her throat a lot .
I have noticed she is a bit warm and have given her calpol and inhaler .
I am a bit worried should I take her to morning drop in just to be on the safe side or keep her wrapped up warm at home?

BTW she is laid on sofa playing on her DS and is not overy miserably or anything

How old is she? TBH I would have dosed mine up and sent to school but maybe I am a cruel mother

littleboyblue · 18/11/2008 09:33

Don't know anything about asthma but didn't want to leave this unanswered.
It sounds like she's ok, but if you're worried, take her down to clinic, you've got nothing to lose and when they tell you she's fine, you can get on with your day and stop worrying.
I've taken ds to be seen loads of times and he's always been fine, but better to be safe

Fiveplusbump · 18/11/2008 09:37

She is 7 ,she was all ready for school and stood in the hall with coat and gloves on when I realised she had a bit of a temp .

I just worry more when it comes to coughs and colds my first dd passed away from complications from bronchoilitis so I worry a lot more .

Usually I am quite ruthless and send them off to school .

I think I will keep an eye on her and if she is still ill this afternoon take her over to the doctors we only live a few doors away and they are usually good over seeing LO's .

If she has a mild temp you are right to keep her home.

So sorry about your first DD - how sad.

damewashalot · 18/11/2008 09:42

Now I feel really insensitive, sorry. Keep her cosy and trust your insincts, if you feel the need to get her checked for your peace of mind then do.

onepieceoflollipop · 18/11/2008 09:42

Fiveplusbump it is completely understandable that you would be worried. So sorry to hear about your first dd.

You need to follow your instincts - if you are usually quite ruthless as you say. I would tend to want to keep an eye on a temperature, particularly in a child with asthma. Afternoon surgery is a good idea, see how she gets on over the morning.

Fiveplusbump · 18/11/2008 09:51

damewashalot Don't worry I didn't mention it in my first post you are not a mindreader .

I think it is more of a virusy type thing TBH she is really knackered to and I forgot she was woke up for a bit in the night after wetting the bed, she has said her chest dosen't hurt ,just a headache and sore throat .

Thanks for all the replies.

You are keeping an eye on her and your dr is nearby if you feel she needs it, so it'll be fine.
I totally see how you must worry after what happened to your first dd, how tragic.

Two of my children have asthma and it is a horrible worrying thing at the best of times.

Fiveplusbump · 18/11/2008 10:02

Thankyou, It happened a long time ago now (10 years in Dec) .
I am usually quite calm about bugs and illness but at this time of year its always more worrying and I do tend to overreact .
I am starting to think I may have been conned though as she is eating a bag of haribo and asking for some hot ribena .
Maybe someone wanted a duvet day .

OP posts:
Buda · 18/11/2008 10:30

If she had a temp she deserves a duvet day!

Mmm - I would love some hot ribena!

Fiveplusbump · 18/11/2008 10:34

We only have hot ribena in this house if its snowing or you are ill .

hi there, my dd is 6 and has mild asthma. I have kept her of the past two days as she has developed a bad cough, cold, headache and this mornign woke with a temp.

I think that if they have a temp, esp feel really hot they should be bundled and sat in front of the box.

I know what you mean about this time of year, its knackering.

also to hear about your dd. x

Buda · 18/11/2008 10:43

I'm ill Fiveplus! Have horrible cold which has taken up residence in my sinuses today. No ribena though!

Lenlen · 18/11/2008 11:05

hope your dd would outgrow her asthma soon.
