ds2 13 has developed pains in his leg bones/muscles in one leg. Its beenbothering him for a few weeks. This is a child who is never sick - he doesn't even get colds.
Taking him to the GP this evening but I am completely paranoid about cancer. Had a friend who's 13 yo started with leg pain and the GP ignored it as 'growing pains' until the tumour on the spine was inoperable and the lad passed away despite chemo.
Thing is, Don't want to mention the big C in front of ds2 as he has no idea of my over-anxious worries. But if I don't maybe the GP wont think about it?
Any thoughts?

Why not tell your ds that you need to have a chat to the GP about yourself & don't feel comfortable discussing it with ds present. Your ds will probably think, eew, women's problems and happily sit in the waiting room for a bit while you quickly tell the GP your concerns?

Or can you ring surgery ahead and ask to speak to the doctor about your worries explaining why you obviously don't want to mention it in fromt of your ds.
