Been ill since last Thursday, with temperature, headache, dizzy, achey, says her legs hurt , DS had temperature and was ill for 3 days. DH has had fluey bug culminating in chest infection and sinusitis. Luckily, i had a bad cold, and my crohns has flared as i am run down, but am still standing.

Doc checked DD over yesterday, and apparently she was skipping and jumping all over the place, full of beans, and no signs of infection.

have been through two bottles of calpol in a week..

she is sleepy, white as a sheet, dark under her eyes and off her food.

she has been up in the night a lot though so am not surprised she is sleeping in the day

what to do?

Hi there
My dd (16 months) has been similar since Friday - really lethargic, sleeping longer than normal, not wanting to sit up or walk, really clingy, off her food, very pale with bags under her eyes, waking up every night, also really distressed when she wakes up after a sleep, although this reaction seems to be lessening. But then some of the time she's like her normal self!

Took her to docs on Monday (where she too was very chirpy) who said he's not sure what it is other than it might be connected to tummy ache/constipation from a few weeks ago (constipation still ongoing) and possibly a virus as well! Have got to give her lactulose for 2 weeks and calpol if she's distressed and take her back in two weeks if she's not better. Was also wondering if it was in part a virus, my in laws have had nasty bug which they're struggling to shake off and both my dh and I have been rundown over the last few weeks (although probably due to lack of sleep).

Not really got much advice but just wanted you to know your dd is not the only one feeling like this. I feel better knowing my dd is not the only one!

Does sound like a virus. DS2 had something similar at the beginning of last year and it dragged on for 2 weeks. I had something fluey but soldiered on - he was completely poleaxed by it.

He did get better by only after a couple of trips to the docs. It was a slow process.

Like your family DS1 had it but was only ill for 3 days too.

Not much you can do except sit it out, plenty of fluids, let her eat when she feels like it and lots of rest.

Viruses are crap, aren't they.

Hope you feel better soon as well.

thanks niecie.

DD had a long sleep, ate some apple, drank some weak squash, and had one bit of a biscuit and 3 crisps. her leggings are loose around her middle and her legs look like little twigs.

she is not hot now. but complaining of tummy ache, i think becasue she is empty
