A question about poo

babyOcho · 10/11/2008 21:41

DD is 8 months old, is weaned and still has lots of BM.

She hasn't pooed for 2 days, but I see her straining when she eats (she usually opens her bowels 3 times a day, during meals).

She drinks water with her meals and fruit at lunchtime - plum or pear. Has banana usually at breakfast as well.

What can I give her to help her get it moving?

Prune juice is supposed to be good, I hear -- does it seem to be bothering her?

banana is a common cause of constipation, try cutting it out and see if it helps

I have some prunes in juice, so will try that tomorrow morn. Will give that rather than banana tomorrow morn. Never knew that it was a common constipation cause.

I dont think that its really bothering her that much, but she does strain when she eats.

So DD has been at the prunes and I've been giving her prune juice today and she finally went tonight at 830pm, whilst asleep - it wasnt good she was really upset.

Anyway, they were hard hard poos.

I know that prevention is better than cure, but what is the best way to prevent? Shall I be pruning her everyday (she really liked them).

dried apricots work like a charm

Dried fruit, or indeed any fruit except bananas
