MMR a week before holiday?

Ds (18 months) has got his appointment for his MMR a week before the 2 of us are due to go on holiday.

Some people have suggested postponing it, others have said to cancel and reschedule?

I know he will probably be fine, but I'm just worried if he's not 100% its gonna be a bit of a stressful holiday - runny nappies/temperature/grizzly toddler.. bit much to cope with by myself? Dp think's he'll be fine - not that it matters much to him as he will be 100's of miles away

I would put it off until after the holiday. 7-10 days afterwards is when the side-effects come through with MMR, if they're going to. If we'd gone on holiday a week after DS's MMR it would have been a pretty miserable holiday.

I would re-schedule. Dd was always off colour a week or so after her injections. It's just not worth it!

DS was ill 8 days after his measles jab (we went for singles). Nothing major but a very high temperature and grizzly for 2 days, plus a minor rash.

None of mine had any noticable side effects when they had their mmr. DD has recently had her booster as she didn't have it pre school and I had actually forgotten to watch out for any reaction.
That said you won't know how your DS is going to react until he has it. If him potentially being unwell for a few ays while your away would ruin your holiday it would make sense to rescedule the appointment for when you get back just in case.

I agree, reschedule imms - side effects can also include mini mumps and mini measles, not just temp and grizzly, although not contagious may not look good on holiday snaps!

We only off to Barcelona for a few days but agree its not the bst place to take a whingey toddler.. perhaps he could have his injections and stay at home with Daddy

Our DS has never had any notable side effects from any vaccinations. He had the MMR about 8-10 days before us all going on holiday and was fine.
However, saying that, if you're in any doubt, then I would say postpone it. Personally I wanted DS to have the MMR before going away as we were going to a country that wasn't that modern/developed. Has your DS had any reactions to vaccinations in the past?
Trust your gut at the end of the day....if you'd be more relaxed about postponing it then do so. As you say, you're the one who will have to deal with it if your DS does have a reaction. If you're only going away for a few days then waiting won't make much difference. Enjoy your hol
