Low immune system

My ds is 12....profoundly deaf and at residential school. He hasnt been able to shift a cold he has had for six weeks and has now got impetigo. He has had one course of ab's which didnt do a thing! Im concerned about his immune system being low. My reflexologist suggested garlic capsules which ive started, what should i ask the gp to do when i see him 2mw??

How about some zinc. I give 15mg a day.

Can he have some time off school, like a week, to rest properly and see off his infections. Sleep is the only thing that really sees off the styes and mouth ulcers my daughter gets when her immunity is low.

Can you let him go without giving Calpol or whatever as the fever might help get rid of the bugs.

Hadnt thought about zinc.....hes on ritalin, fish oils and garlic already! He is off school all week now anyway! I try not to give him calpol because of the colours in it! He has torpedo paracetemols instead! Thanks for answering!

What about actimel? That is good for the immune system I think.....interestingly there was a study in the Lancet about it reducing cases of C Diff .......I understand they are now doing a larger study in hospital looking at this.
When my uncle left hospital in ireland he was given the irish version by the hospital to take home.
