Time limits for car seats

I've heard that you shouldn't keep a baby in a car seat for more than 2 hours, or it could damange their spine. When my ds goes out in the car he falls asleep and I just hate waking him when the 2 hours are up. He sleeps flat on his back all night in his moses basket and plays on his back under his baby gym when he's awake. Should I worry about the 2 hour limit when we're out, or let his sleep take priority? And if I stick to the limit, how long a break does he need before he can go back in the seat again?

you are meant to get them out after 2 hours for a stretch and straighten their backs, i think their airways get a bit restricted too. I didn't stick to it to the minute but never put the carseast onto the buggy always moved her into the pram.
