7 week old dd has first cold (I think - very mucus sounding and having screamed all day yesterday is very sleepy today) but missed bath yesterday (due to screaming!) and due one today - any issues with bathing her tonight - advice appreciated...

a)don't think cold will make much difference to whether she has a bath or not.

b) she doesn't need a bath every day or even every other day. Wash down with a flannel if particularly grubby.

I bathed DS (8 weeks) but only because he threw up alot that day and gets gunk in his neck folds. As long as you are quick to wrap up etc. I doubt it'll d any harm, but if you don't want to with a cold 2 days without a bath is ok!

thanks so much~!!

It will help! Warm moist air will sooth her airways. Don't you love a bath when you have a cold? Shut the doors etc and let the room steam up too.

Wet wipes and damp flannels went a long way with mine!

I bathed DD1 twice daily - DD2 kind of had to smell funny to provoke that kind of attention - both are happy and healthy, let the wee man be, if he's poorly

Sorry, read LadyOfRoffles post while typing - your dd's not a wee man at all, is she

MrsJamin · 21/10/2008 19:43

I agree with Bubbaluv, warm moist air will really help loosen up the phlegm so she will sleep better. definitely do it.

My dd is 6 weeks old. Has had 2 baths in her entire life!

Bubbaluv · 22/10/2008 08:21

I'd start getting her used to it Moonlight (just a suggestion - not trying to be bossy). They do love it when they are relaxed about it. mmmmmm baaath.

MoonlightMcKenzie · 22/10/2008 16:21

Perhaps Bubbaluv, but I hate giving her a bath, and hate baths myself.

Bubbaluv · 23/10/2008 16:52

Fair enough. They certainly aren't compulsory!
