Dd is 4. for the past few weeks she has complained on and off abotu tummy ache. she will be playing quite happily and then all of a sudden she comes up and wants a cuddle saying her tummy hurts.
i ask her where and she always rubs her tummy.

She isn't constipated, she doesn't have diorhea and she hasn't been sick.

At first i thought it was just an attention thing but its been going on for quite awhile now even though i dont pay much attention to her when she say's it.

Im not a worrier normally but this is niggling at me.
Anyone have any idea's as to what it could be? i know if i go to the GP he will just fob me off so if i could go with some idea's of what it could possibly be and he can then rule them out one by one and give me reasons for doing so.

appendix?

MerlinsBeard · 18/10/2008 11:49

constipation?

eaten too much of a particular thing that she may have a very slight intolerance to?

hrh - my ds does the same. He'll come up to me saying 'mummy my belly hurts' after a couple of minutes rubbing he seems better. Like you, I thought it was an attention thing but it still niggles in the back of my head. Again he's not constipated or anything.

my son has a thin stomach lining which means that some things irritate him - orange just acidy things.

worms? some children get crampy feelings with worms

dinny · 18/10/2008 12:10

at least the GP will examine her - I wouldn't expect them to fob off a 4 yo complaining of chronic tummy ache

sadly our Gp has this weirdy phone up and speak to teh Gp and then he will decide if you need an apointment. its really quite awful.
he will fob you off time and time again and it actualy realy worries me how many very ill people have been told to take aspirin and go lay down.

So if i just call up saying Dd is sayig she hsa tummy ache he will jsut tell me to give her dioralite or something.

i don't think it's worms as she isn't losing any weight or eating more than usual...though i have never had worms before so not 100% on the symptoms.

I would have thought Appendix pain would be more constant.

might look into the stomach lining thing though. i think i might keep a note of when she complains. i dont think its exclusivly after food but there may be some link.
