DD says she has a sore bottom when she does a poo

but I can't see anything, all looks fine down there

she did have a bit of a tummy bug last week, wondered if it could be sore from that, but's it's not red

she isn't constipated - could it be a fissure? she is 6

if she allows you too, look just inside the anus hoping she doesn't clench!! the tissue just inside is softer than that on view normally and it is here that soreness often happens after a tummy bug. the soreness could be down to a slight increase in acidity due to the bug which has caused soreness to the area that is usually alkaline. if it is an active fissure there should be bright red blood on the stool surface, if there is what looks like blood but it is darker and dry looking then it may be from incomplete digestion due the bug or it could be a localised overgrowth of candida (which can happen after a tummy bug but usually doesn't last long if generally healthy)
