you could prop up the end of the cot with towels under the matress or some books under the legs, I have used a plug in vaporiser (from boots), or you could tie a muslin to the side of the cot which has vic/ olbas oil on it. Even a little drop on the front of his babygro.A bowel of very hot water with olbas oil in works as well as the vaporiser. although obviously need to take care where you place it. It's horrible sleeping on your back when you can't breath so he probably feels pretty miserable.I think you can get some gadget from the chemist that sucks the mucus out of their nose (a friend with a small baby told me about that one )I think it is like a dropper type gadget, don't know what it looks like but might be worth enquiring.
Good luck

thanks tootyflooty, it sounds like I'm doing the right things - I've propped up the cot and we've had a drop of olbas oil on his muslin by the cot for the last few nights. I might try the chemist for that gadget - it sounds like it might do the trick - good idea.
