Also has had bad runs too, obviously it is a bug of some sort, have taken him the GP this morning but of course there is nothing that can be done really apart from try and keep him taking fluids. He is 2 yo.

My worry is that in a few days he seems to have lost quite a bit of weight, will he gain this back ok afterwards?

It is a little like deja vu, as my dd had gastroenteritis at 13 mths (i was lilsmum then).

It's mostly water he's lost, so will gain some of it when he gets better.

He should be fine - lots of kids get bugs like this and lose lots of weight but soon put it back on.
