Coping with a child on prednisolone

Ds was prescribed 35mg daily of prednisolone at the weekend and the last couple of days his behaviour has been a nightmare
Yesterday he hit several children and stormed out of school at the end of the day (the teacher was aware and watching him while the headteacher went to retrieve him)
He won't get out of bed and is constantly shouting at me.
He is quite lively and can be quite challenging anyway but the teachers had noticed the difference in him already.
How do you deal with it - discipline him as normal or take the steroids into account and be a bit more lenient on him?

Take the steroids into account and forgive him completely. they can cause Horrible mood swings - ds1 was on 20mg a day for 4 days, and was vile.

Oh dear,poor ds.Is it a short term dose or is it going to be long term?

dp was on 40mg for about 8 months and was bouncing off the walls,so I sympathise.

Did the doc give you any advice?

When DS had a short course of prednisolone I was warned they were likely to make him hyper. So I would definitely take the steroids into account.

he will probably be on them for 4 weeks.
The docs didn't say anything but we are back in clinic tomorrow so may ask then

dd1 was a moody tearful mare on prednisolone last week. short lived thank goodness!!

He was quite good this morning so I am hoping things are settling down now!
I am back at clinic this afternoon and will threaten to leave him there for them to deal with if he carries on

I would be grumpy if i was him too predisnolone tastes vile!!
