Is there any way appendicitis (or something that causes it) can be contagious?

I don't think so, but there have been two children in the last couple of weeks taken into hospital with appendicitis - and this is from a school of about 50 pupils!

Probably just a coincidence, but I thought I would check

It is essentially an infection of the appendix I think.

Pretty sure it is not conatgious though...so I would say a fluke.

No. Not contagious at all. It seems to occur more in societies with a more refined (less fibre) diet.

A word with the school cook then

Not contagious and nothing to do with what you eat.
Totally useless appendige attached to large bowel.

no

Oddly enough two children from our school had this in the space of three months or so last year. It's a bigger school than you but as I understand appendicitis is rarer in children than adults - it still seemed like an large number to me! I understand why you woould want to check.

Thanks, obviously just a coincidence.

If there are anymore cases I will be back for another word!
