Really dim question about Calpol

My dd who is four and a half has been poorly for the last couple of days. She started being sick Wednesday afternoon, was sick several times Wednesday night and a couple of times on Thursday. Today she has been asleep ALL day pretty much. She is slightly warm but not really burning up. I am not a worrier about illnesses and am confident she will be better in the next few days. I tried to get her to have some calpol earlier but she wasn't having any of it - I think she is worried it will make her sick again. So what I want to know is would Calpol actually help her to get better, or does it just lower her temperature so she would feel a bit better but take just as long to recover as if she didn't have it? Hope that makes sense and that someone can help!

it's paracetamol, so would reduce temperature and pain
