Any Idea What This Could Be?

Hi,

Last night I was changing almost-12 month-old DD's nappy, and she had a lump on her crotch, over towards the left hand side. Her whole groin looked swollen, and the lump moved when i poked it, but was fairly hard and visible. When i changed her nappy an hour later it had gone and everything was normal.
I took her to the Drs to get checked out, but she couldn't feel anything amiss. Her suggestions were a swollen lymph-node (she has a bit of a cold and a cough) that went down really fast, or perhaps a hernia that has slipped down (though DD isn't in any discomfort). All she said was to bring her back if it happened again...
I'm still a bit concerned and wondered if anybody has any idea or experience of this?

Thanks

I' imagine lymph nodes. only 1 of my 4dc gets them when they have cold/virus etc

Thanks Frazzled. The Dr wasn't sure it was a lymph node as it disappeared so quickly. She was very lovely, but very young, and seemed very unsure of everything. Not helpful! I thought the far more wise and experienced mumsnetters might be able to shed more light

If you're concerned, go and see a diff gp. I did recently with ds1. 1st gp was young, inexperienced and had no idea what the lumps were on ds ears. she just sent us away saying she imagines they're fine. We later saw a diff gp just to put our minds at rest. They were fine, but i dont think 1st gp should have dismissed us when she had no idea what they were.

Could it be a hernia?
