Antibiotics and rash?

My son has been given antibiotics for a cyst and has now come out in a rash all over his legs and tummy .The rash is under the skin and not individual spots. do you think these are related and should I continue with antibiotics? It is a holiday here in Scotland so doctors are closed. Thanks

Could be an allergic reaction - has he had these antibiotics before? Is he ok otherwise, no breathing difficulties, swelling to lips tongue etc. Safest to stop ab's and seek advice from Gp asap.

Good advice to ring NHS direct, my DS came out in a rash first time he had antibitics ironically for a cyst as well. Doctor stopped them as thought may be an allergic reaction.

He is absolutely fine except for rash. He has been taking them since Friday. Think I will stop giving them to him - better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for your help

Doesmy- the other type of rash that often looks similar is an urticaria- can often be a result of recent viral illness, allergy in general.

My DS had been taking them for 5 days before he came out in the rash. I would get him checked out by GP anyway as if it is a reaction it needs to go on his notes.They can prescribe alternative antibiotics also.

Understand if you don't want to say but where is his cyst?

Cyst is in the middle of his tummy. He hasn't been on antibiotics for ages and when they asked if he was allergic to penicillin I said I didn't think so. They are sugar free antibiotics if that make a difference.

My DS cyst is in his chest and still not cleared up. Looks like it will have to be drained at some point.
Not sure if sugar free makes a difference but could be like little boo says and just viral the doc should be able the difference.

Boo I thought of urticaria too as other son has had that - that is what it looks like but just thought it was a bit of a coincidence with antibiotics. Thanks for all your help.
