High protein levels in urine

Ds was found to have high protien levels a few weeks ago by the gp and today we saw the consultant who told us there was still protein in his wee.
Ds today was very brave about having a blood test and he also has to have an ultrasound on his kidneys and bladder.
Has anyone else been through this?
I can't stop worrying now that there is something majorly wrong and we have to wait 2 months to see the consultant again although he was really good and said if there was anything he was concerned about in the blood test he would move things quicker.
