Red sore on head

My DS4 had a red sore on his head, within his hair. Does anyone know what this could be? I went to the doctor a while ago about sores on his head, and was prescribed Capasal shampoo, but this sore seems to be very red and I wondered if anyone knew what it could be. Sometimes a graze comes off his head with a little clump of hair attached!

Midge bite, Ds always getting them on his head, gets a wee scab on it then it sometimes takes a bit of hair with it when it comes off.

I did ask the doctor if it was ringworm, but he siad it was not. I'm not convinced, so maybe I'll take him back.
