Bleeding in the nappy area!

Hello. A few times my DD has bled from her nappy rash. But the thing is, the nappy rash doesn't look THAT bad aside from the blood. Its just a bit red other than the blood. The blood is little tiny dots over the red area, like a graze rather than a cut or anything if that makes sence. It then seems to go within 24hours ish but has apearred on a few occasions now.

Does anybody know what this is or how to treat it?

Poor thing. Give her some time with her nappy off everyday and there is a nappy cream called metanium that is super at getting rid of nappy rash fast. Not sure about the bleeding thing, but if you treat the nappy rash i would imagine that would go too.

How do I do nappy off with a very active baby without getting wee/poo everywhere? She is 8 months but crawls everywhere and doesn't sit stil and is trying to walk.

When she was small she had nappy free time at every change for quite a while and liked it. Now she has 5 mins before bath time and thats it.

She also poos about 5-6 times a day which may explain the nappy rash!!

My baby also poos at least five times a day its a nightmare! Do you have one room that isnt carpeted, I know its gross but letting her crawl around without a nappy on would be fine with a wipe clean floor. I really do recomend that cream though, my doctor prescribed it for me but they sell it at morrisons and my local pharmacy, its good stuff

If she is teething it is a lot worse because the poo is a lot more acidic. So you need to change the nappy as soon as you can after she poos. But agree - metanium is the best option.

We have been using that cream, it is good but doesn't seem to completly cure it.

We always change her nappy as soon as she poos too but she seems to poo in the night now so when we go into her she has a dirty nappy. Not sure if she had only just done it when we had gone in or what but without staying up all night there isn't an awful lot we can do?

Is she teething? And is it bothering her - i.e. crying when you change her? If it's not and she is teething it will stop eventually, don't beat yourself up about it, you are doing all you can x

I think she might be teething, but certainly isn't badly at the mo as when her 2 teeth that she has got come through - everybody knew about it! She had a temp of 104, screamed all day etc etc.

So what I mean is, she might have some slight teething pain but not getting anything through iyswim.

It does sometimes bother her at change times

A friend of mine who is a doctor explained to me that when babies teethe (sp) they produce more saliva, which is acidic, which they then swallow hence runny poos which are acidic hence the nappy rash. So there is genuinely nothing you can do to stop this. As I said before - just don't beat yourself up about it. My LO was so late with teeth that I ended up potty training her to stop the bleeding but 8 months is a bit young!! (Mine was 2 - no teeth til 16 months)!

I would take to the doctors and check for thrush, it's quite common in babies.
