A bump under a bruise - normal?

DS has a small bruise on his shin. I felt it today and there's a definite bump under the bruise. Before I freak out about lumps, is it usual to have a bump under a bruise?

Quite normal - it's almost certainly just a swelling caused by whatever he did to cause the bruise in the first place.
