Umbilical Hernia's!

My 3 year old daughter has an umbilical hernia & has had it from birth. Her belly button sticks out & the doctors have said that they will wait to see if it shrinks & goes in. If it doesnt she will have to have an operation.

Is there anyone else who are in a similar situation or have children who have had the operation?

My dd has one from birth and is now 10. She has never had any problems and therefore has not had the operation. If she felt it tightening etc then she would need to. She did go to a specialist when she was 5, he just said it was up to us.

I remember when she was born the doctor then told us she would never be able to have her belly button pierced (dh and I silently whooped).

Does her belly button still stick out, my dd's does although it does go in now & again?

Yes Sometimes the top of trousers annoy her, she tends to wear her trousers under it or hipster type ones.
