I need to get a sample from dd - she is happy to sit on a potty but of course then it isn't 'mid-stream'. Any recommendations?

at 4 it is a bit hit and miss and a question of doing the best you can.

one way is..

*wear gloves and put a mat down
clean her bottom well with water before hand get her to stand over the potty and "aim from on high" (you can make it a bit of a game amd yes I have managed this in my former life on a children's ward)
*put pot into stream just after she starts.

I wouldn't worry too much about midstream in a child - the most important thing is that it is a 'clean catch' ie no bugs around on the outside of the skin contaminating the specimen. Hence the cleaning.

good luck!
