he only cried for 2 mins and seem fine again and smiley. i just turned my back to talk to my toddler then heard the thud. i cant see any marks, bumps or bruises what should i do i feel awful

It's OK. they all do this, it's nothing to worry about. How high is the bed? Is there a rug underneith?

He sounds fine. My ds once managed to roll off the bed and I was downstairs and nearly died when I heard the thump. He was absolutely alright. (In fact I'm amazed that with a toddler already this is the first time it has happened).

Ds also manage to topple head first off a coffee table on to a (tiled) kitchen floor, that was loads worse (for us) but he was still absolutely alright.

Give NHS Direct a call if it will make you feel more secure, but they are likely to say 'in these situations, we're generally guided by what the mum thinks', so if you think he seems fine, they'll say not to worry.

The thud. The pause. And then the mighty scream. I know this well. I wouldn't worry if he/she is smiley again. Apparently they are relaxed (not tense) and doesn't hurt quite the same? !

don't worry mine did that too and no ill effects. bit upset then fine. if he's smiley and normal he's not hurt.

hes nearly 7mths its isnt too high and there was carpet he fell onto his bqack god i feel sick

Mine did that. Don't worry about it. They are not braced for pain like we are, so he didn't hurt as much as you'd think.
It is the differece between you hurting yourself sober (hurts like hell) or doing the same thing after a few glasses of wine (not bothered).

He's fine! Honestly, I know what the shock factor is like, you are in a much worse state than he is.

I bashed my 10 day old off the bedroom door! She has also fallen off the bed...though at around 10 months. You'll feel worse than he does. He'll be fine

you will feel soooo much worse than he does! it is horrible when it happens but they are hard to break.

My paed said that as long as they cry right away then you are normally fine.

DS got dropped out of his car seat when he was 6 weeks old, Dad picked up the carseat without checking if the handle was locked into position and it flipped, dropping DS out onto his face. It was awful, I was ok but my Dad was shaking and crying.

Don't worry, we have all done it. Babys bounce incredibly well.

Just make sure he's not more drowsy then normal, abnormal crying, enlarged fontinelle, it's hard to say with the vomiting as they puke anyway. If you are worried then contact NHS direct.

ds used to fall off the bed loads. It was more of a shock for him than anything else. He only hurt himself once, my friend was watching him and he went for a dive and cut his chin. I've seen parents in a right state because they hadn't realised their babay can roll and they have fallen on the floor.

i had the same thing today except my toddler rolled the baby off the bed, i was very upset with her and from now on we will no longer sing 'There were ten in a bed'

oh thankyou everyone for your quick response's and not slaughtering me hes just had his bottle and gone off to sleep so he will prob sleep through tonight just to to freak me out . I feel a bit better now but will prob end up checking him half a dozen times tonight i dont think i will mention it to dh though as im sure he'll will be less sympathetic.

littleducks lol that made me my lill girl donr that o my ds when he was 7 months hehe i dont think any one who has kids will every be lucky enought to never have one of there kids roll off a bed as long as its not on concret they r normley all fine in seconds .but its still not nice. u allays feel so bad

forgot to say . littleducks it was not funny that ur baby come off the bed . but the song u was singing the roll over song heheh
