Pre school/viral wheeze

Hi all, looking to see if anyone has experienced the same with their little one.

my now 2 year old son has been in and out of hospital being treated for pre school/viral wheeze since last December. He is hospitalised every single time that he gets a cold (sometimes 3 occasions in one month) and is treated with sometimes oxygen but always salbutamol and then following the plan when discharged. He has been on clenil the steroid pump since April and is also on montelukast. Every admission he also comes home with a course of steroids which of course is not good at this age.

my concern is that the things that should prevent this (clenil and montelukast) aren’t working and I don’t feel anyone is taking it seriously. I’m worried that they may be treating the wrong thing and it may not be viral wheeze at all but something that mimics this. Has anyone had any experience with this and the meds not working for their child or found that they were misdiagnosed with viral wheeze please?
