Does anyone have experience of their DC and migraines with aura/vision loss in their teens? My Son has had two within three days. He is 15 and is having a very rapid growth surge. He had a Bells Palsy three years ago after a virus but besides that it a fit, healthy and very active boy with a good balanced diet and sleeps like a log from birth!

DS migraines started at 13/14 with puberty with aura and vision loss. It's v common. They got worse when he had growth spurts. His father's started at the same age. DS then got weird ones and ended up with an MRI but it was all fine. He's now 18 and they are now visual only and fingers crossed they stay like that. His father still has big aura migraines every few months. I get migraines too but mine are hormonal and stress related. It's also really common with us all to get 2 in a couple of days.

Thank you for your reply @DeclineandFall . I started with them in my late teens and ironically again as I commenced perimenopause. I just never had them so close together and my other two older children have not had them at all.

DS, I now 13 has been having migraines for over a year. He gets both types- aura/ distorted vision and pain centralised over one eye. He has had an MRI and now takes pizotifen daily.

My DD started with these at the age of 13. Unfortunately for her she was diagnosed with ET.
Has your DS tried Sumatriptan nasal spray ? It always seemed to work on my DD.

@NellieShoe No, they have only started in the past five days so we are off to the GP tomorrow. What is ET?

@Namethatbauble ET is a Chronic Blood cancer.

If GP offers Sumatriptan ask for the Nasal spray it’s way more effective. But as your DS has only just started experiencing the Migraine's they may not offer it. Keep a Diary because if they become chronic the GP will request it. Wishing your DS all the best. X
