Hi looking some advice. My son is 15 and due to get his tonsils out next week and want to see if anyone has experience with this. I had mine removed at 26 years old and it was absolutely terrible because of pain i didnt sleep well and could hardly eat Have been told that young kids recover so much better but can't seem to find much in regards to teenagers. Appreciate any tips or advice

I had mine removed when I was nearly 14.
The first thing I remember was telling the nurse that it felt like I had tonsillitis.

From recollection it felt like a bad case of tonsillitis for the first 2-3 days. I picked up an infection and that caused vomiting which was horrible but antibiotics helped within a day. I was off school for 2 weeks due to infection risk and definitely by the second week, if not early, I would have been ok to go to school and it was like having an extra week of school holidays. I had mine out mid September and before my sister had gone back to uni so definitely had summer holiday vibes.
