Random sickness during the night

Has anyone experienced their child (4.5 yo) being sick during the night? He was sick around 11pm, seemed like has sick in his sleep which woke him up. He was fine after, went back to sleep. No other symptoms and so far has been fine today, eating so far and seems his usual self which I’m grateful for. Of course have kept him off school as per guidelines on the safe side, but never had a bug be like this before so just wondered if anyone had the same / similar experience

nothing new eaten the day before

It could be due to changing seasons, better to get him checked once.

My toddler did this two nights ago. Fine now. I assume it's whatever back to school bug is going around schools and nurseries.

Oh thank you for letting me know! Was it just the one night and then as if nothing happened during the day? Like he’s been completely fine ever since! Which I’m very grateful for of course

Yep exactly. LO was sick at 2am and 4am Sunday wee hours and then bouncing off the walls by 9am. Nothing since.

Ten year old DS did this last night and basically fine today. Very unlike him 🤷‍♀️

So strange, there must be a bug going round! Hopefully they are all good now though!

Fudge nuggets! What in tarnation?! I would definitely not overlook this and I would definitely have him checked by a licensed professional. Don't get too bogged down by google as it often likes to scare searchers but make sure to do some research

The doctor might need to prescribe antibiotics it's always good the use the NHS whenever you can just to be safe we are blessed to have a free (functioning but not perfect) healthcare system in this country

I assume this isn’t serious.

I wouldn’t be worried OP. Both of mine have had bugs that have been just one instance of vomiting and then fine. We’ve only find out for certain it’s a bug because DH tends to catch them a day or so later.
It’s definitely not true that sickness bugs always involve lots of vomiting.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I hadn’t experienced just once then fine so I wasn’t sure - fingers crossed fine tonight and it was just one time only as he was completely fine today x

Just a bit surprised by the laissez faire attitude. Take him to a gp to be in the clear, never take chances with vomiting or illnesses and there could be an underlying cause

You take your kids to the gp every bug or illness they pick up?..

You’d take your child to the GP and say “he was sick once and is now fine”? What would you expect them to do?? The antibiotics you suggested upthread would be for what exactly?

I’m wondering the same.. from my experience with GP’s they would be confused as to why I brought him if he had no symptoms and was only sick once

My 5 year old did this last night. Absolutely fine straight after and since! Eating, drinking and behaving completely normally 🤷‍♀️
