7 years old getting comments that he is skinny

My son is turning 8 in November. He’s currently around 127–128 cm and 27 kg, and when I check the growth charts, both his height and weight are above the average percentile for his age.

What do you think does 27 kg sound a normal weight for his height and age, or does he sound underweight/slim? I’d love to hear other parents’ opinions.

My 7 year old is a couple of cms shorter and weighs just under 22kg. He’s very slim (finding trousers that fit are an issue) but perfectly healthy looking although some of his friends are noticeably stronger. On that basis, I would think your son sounds about average.

It's a perfectly healthy weight. The problem is people have lost sight of what a healthy size is and this includes clothes manufacturers. Who is commenting?

Not bothered about the comments. I just want to see if other kids are the same!
But yeah all families comments because during the toddler phase he was above 99 percentile

If he's above average on the charts then of course he's fine...and obviously lots of kids will be like him by definition.

Maybe u just come from one of those families who call anyone not chubby skinny!

He doesn’t sound too skinny to me. I think a lot of people don’t realise that ribs should be visible on children. I think on average British children are now slightly overweight which makes any healthy-weight children look skinny.

My 9yo still weighs under 30kg and is healthy
