discovered TW on Tuesday night, 3 or so around the anus, I popped to the late pharmacy and treated DD5 in her sleep with the oral solution along side the rest of the family.

wednesday we saw nothing in stool or around the anus overnight, however Thursday night and tonight we have seen them again both in stool and around the anus before bedtime

we have come away to a cabin for a week so have brought no toys and I washed our bedding on 60 before we left , I’ve since washed our sheets here on 90 today. We are expecting friends to join us early next week and I feel I have to say no don’t come!!

surely the meds should have worked by now. Do I re treat? Everything says 14 days.

How did you get her to swallow the medication if she was asleep?

Also you need to cut nails short, scrub them frequently and everyone wear clean close fitting pants/ pjs at night. Underwear straight into the wash. Shower in the morning, clean underwear again. Hoover frequently and damp dust. It is hard work. No sharing towels. Wash hands frequently especially before eating. It is the eggs that are the problem.

@endofthelinefinallyI cut nails before we left, we were half way through being nappy free overnight I’ve put them back on for now hopefully that will contain them . I will up the hoovering though. There’s a good one in the cabin.

It sounds as if you have done everything you can. Fingers crossed it all works. I am pretty sure you have to give a second dose though. I can't remember. My last encounter with threadworms was nearly 30 years ago.

Vaseline or baby oil around the anus at night is good, then the TW can't lay eggs. As PP said, wash every morning. Constant dusting. Apparently pumpkin seeds help.

You MUST do a second dose at 14 days. That’s when the eggs from the first lot hatch. Medication kills worms but not eggs, that’s why you need the second dose. Can you get hold of some where you are?

DD6 had this over new years when we were away in our caravan. Thankfully we have a washer and tumble drier. As PP advice - shower every morning, no sharing towels, constant hand washing, we also washed all pj’s and bedding each day. We re-treated at 14 days, they didn’t come back, no one else in the household was affected either.

I recommend having some hand sanitiser with you always too, as if she gets itchy and touches her anus or vulva, you’ll need her to sanitise/wash asap.

We found that a couple of days after the first dose we saw loads more on DD's bottom and on her faeces. We think it was because they were dying and too weak to stay attached. They were gone a few days after that. Do make sure you give the second dose even if you think youre all clear.
