Nearly 8-year-old getting headaches when lying down, any experience?

my nearly 8 year old daughter has been getting headaches when she lays down. These are not consistent, so maybe once every couple of weeks or a couple of days in a row and then a gap.
does anyone have any experience of this?
I will contact the gp tomorrow but just wondering if others have had anything like this?

I don’t want to worry you, but that can be a red flag. Definitely get her seen.

I occasionally get this when I bend down, and I believe it may be a sinus infection. It doesn't last for long but I do have Sinex which may or may not alleviate it...

I have no experience of this in a child.

But as an adult, I get it frequently. I've had sinus issues since I was about 18 which give me headaches. It gets worse in summer, with hay fever, but any cold or nasal issues and I get a headache.

Can go to bed feeling fine and wake up with a headache. At the moment it's happening about twice a week.

Thank you @nocoolnamesleft I will definitely get her seen as I have seen the scary red flag possibilities so will book the GP asap.

interesting @Slightyamusedandsilly and @TwoLeftSocksWithHoles as I have questioned whether she’s had a bit of hayfever this year, so sinus related is a possibility.

Hi @NewRoseScroller where in her head is the pain? I was just wondering if perhaps her hair may have been up in a ponytail and the skin a bit sore there when she lays on it? I would get her checked by a GP to be on the safe side though

Is she drinking enough?

@RecyclingSal I know exactly what you mean!! It’s on her forehead though, she points to the front and the top of her nose.

@TeenToTwenties yes I think she does. Roughly the same as her brother. But I will encourage more to see if it helps

My daughter used to get a lot of head pain when she was younger. We had private medical insurance at the time, she saw a paediatrician who arranged for a CT scan, it turned out to be her sinuses.

My son suffers with mirgrains. Happens every couple of weeks. He's been sent home from school before because of them. If you can right down when they are happening and how often this will help the doctors. Also if you can think of triggers write them down too

@NewRoseScroller ah my daughter is the same and I reckon it’s sinus issues because of hayfever which she seems to have this year. Does she have a snuffly nose?
