Is this molluscum contagiousum?

I am going to get a drs appointment in a couple of days if I can. My son has had spots on his face that come and go which look the same as this for about 6 months, he’s had numerous doctors appointments who have just said they don’t know why, it’s just irritation that goes on its own.. but since researching I’m wondering if it’s molluscum contagiosum?

he also has one on his wrist, but this one has been there for around a month. I’m getting a bit concerned but I just wondered if anyone had experienced the same? Thank you

I'd say not. They are normally smaller with a clear head.

No it’s not molluscum they are a lot smaller and whiter

Is he scratching the spots? They look like heat spots to me, try some savlon cream on them, if that doesn't help then talk to a pharmacist.

Doesn't look like it to me, looks more like bites that have been scratched.

Do you have animals? Or has he been near any that might have fleas or near any open standing water than may have had mosquitos?

@Flannelfeet he does scratch them sometimes. 90% of the time he doesn’t know they are there. The one on his face looks like that as he scratched it. I tried a bit of sudocreme and it stung him, probably as it was cracked/scratched.

the doctors even gave us antibiotic cream and that done nothing, Vaseline seems to keep them from getting irritated

@Ihatelittlefriendsusan so we do have a cat, and his dad has cats and a dog, so it’s a possibility. Just seems strange they all seem to be on his face until recently the one on his wrist,

the one on his wrist I actually thought was a mosquito bite initially as it come up out of no where and he found it itchy, but then it just hasn’t gone away

Hmmm, it definitely looks like heat spots, going with the weather it could be? Or chicken pox..the crusty one looks chicken poxy. Xx

Comb the cat over a damp piece of kitchen roll, if you see black dots then cat has fleas and you will know. But I would also treat the cat just in case and get his dad to do the same.

also try and give him some antihistamine, cream or tablets. If it easier then it isn't mollescum but boil wash everything and do jot share towels, bedding wtc because it is highly contagious if it is mollescum.

@Flannelfeet hes had chickenpox before, I know he could get it again but this doesn’t seem like when he had it before. He was unwell and the spots appeared quickly, this has been ongoing for months. The ones on his face clear and then others pop up, but the one on his wrist he’s had about a month now

How old is he? Could he be being bitten at his dads?

Not similar to my kids MC either either. Good luck with diagnosis
