Baby itchy face

My 8 month old has had a viral rash for about a month.
Doc gave us double base and Piriton.

Her rash is slowly going and is only really visible on her ankles & chest now. The problem is, she’s itching her face and neck like mad every single night. She doesn’t even have a rash on her face and neck. It’s keeping her up at night and she’s waking up hourly scratching.

Any tips or tricks that might help as I’m losing the plot.

That's a long time to have a viral rash, I would treat it as an allergic reaction and eliminate triggers like washing powder and fabric conditioner on bedding and any bath products. I'd use it's in a tied sock in her bath,it's very soothing.

It really is a long time isn’t it. We went to a few different Docs & also had her looked over at the hospital because she was absolutely covered in the rash and nothing was working. They all individually said it was a viral rash, which surprised me tbh. One of them said it can take 4 weeks to go, but I’m still not totally convinced it is a viral rash.

I’ve changed the washing powder, however I do still use the same fabric conditioner and those scented beads in the wash. I’ll eliminate those as well.

One of the Dr’s said I could try eliminating dairy from my diet for a month & then reintroducing it to see if the rash comes back.

In the meantime though, her face is driving her (and me) around the bend!!

What were you saying to tie in a sock in the bath? Thank you!

Think it’s oatmeal for the bath?
Try Kit and Kin magic balm see if it helps.

I'd re wash everything using Surcare and no conditioner or scented beads. Use extra long rinses as there can be build up. Do some empty hot washes first to clear the machine of any residue.

Tie a handful of porridge in an old sock and put it in her bath and use it like a sponge on her,it's so soothing for eczema and sensitive skin.

Don't use any shampoos or soaps on her,I've seen horrific rashes on babies after using Johnson's products.

Personally I would do all this before elimination of foods.

I would use a dab of Aveeno cream as I find that better than the emollients the GPs prescribe but it's trial and error with what works.

I used goats milk soap when my son was little. As pp have said oats in the bath really helps soothe sore skin x

Thanks so much x
