Recurring chalazions / styes

Hi all

My 4 year old has been suffering from cysts/styes in the one eye. She has had 3 in the last 1.5 years one bottom lid 2 on her top. Last 2 times she was given antibiotics they cleared up well with drops and warm compresses. I have been told these are common in childhood do they grow out of these? Or does it need to be investigated? My other daughter never got these.

So both of my children have/had them and we did the whole drops and antibiotics thing. We did multiple drs and opticians visits.

dd1s did stop fairly early at around 8. Dd2 had them from 11 - 15 and it was only after we saw a different optician who did her a referral to the eye hospital who then diagnosed a deep seated infection.

she is fine now in terms of treatment working and they have subsided.

unfortunately for both of my girls, there have been underlying infections which have reached their corneas and caused some sight damage. Luckily nothing huge (we are awaiting for hospital to assess dd2s) but both have an eye which has been damaged.

i think we are worst case scenario but we took them both to the gps so many times and got told just one of those things and I feel pretty awful that I didn’t push enough so do keep going back if they don’t go/get worse (opticians were more useful to us)

And nothing fundamentally wrong to cause them here, they are just prone to them.
