Vomiting restarting after 48 hours

DD1 was sick 4 times Saturday and then was fine, eating and drinking normally for 48 hours and then was randomly sick again! Is this normal? Should I expect a repeat of the weekend? Or likely to be a one off? Was just thinking the 6 adults and one other child with her had escaped and now we’re back to square one 😂

This happens most times when my daughter gets a bug. Normally repeats the cycle two to three times and then finally clears it. It seems to be triggered by starting to eat more normal foods/more food.

My youngest was like this after every bug and had a habit of over eating junk at Christmas and Easter 🙄which also set off the vomiting.

In the end I spoke to school and said I would be sending her in after the initial 48 hours otherwise she would never be there.

Interesting…are they contagious again from that point of it’s been 48+ hours?

Not usually it’s just they have a trigger reflex to vomit.

I learned the hard way not to store our sick bucket away prematurely!!

Bumping this as after she was sick on Monday she’s just been sick again (Sunday evening), was totally fine then suddenly had a few retching episodes and then was sick. She has probably had too much sugar today and it’s got etc but I should see GP at this point Shouldn’t it?

We’ve had a few bugs like this. Took DD (then aged 1) to the doctor when it kept reappearing for over a week, was advised up to 10 days and on and off vomiting is considered normal

Ahh thank you that’s reassuring. Are they still contagious in this period or is it just a trigger?

I’m not sure about contagion I’m afraid, it wasn’t mentioned. I think it would depend on the specific bug causing the illness and no way to know that without testing

Took her to the GP who wants to do bloods - hoping that by the time the appointment comes around it’s stopped and we can cancel it!

My youngest had this about a year ago, it coincided with a cryptosporidium outbreak in the area (one confirmed case at his school, widely publicised water processing problem). He’d be absolutely fine for 24 or 48 hours, then feel sick for an hour, vomit, and be fine again. He was off school for about a week in the end, despite being absolutely fine and happy for the vast majority of the time.

Maybe ask the GP to test for cryptosporidium
