How long after illness can glands be swollen? Not sure if we need to get it looked at or not!

My dd 14 had an eye infection maybe 5-6 weeks ago. We noticed the glands on the side of her face (in front of her ear) and further down her neck were swollen I assume from the infection. The infection was quickly treated with eye drops but the glands especially in front of her ear are still quite swollen - if anything more than they were before!

its not painful but she said it’s slightly tender to touch. Maybe the size of a marble on her face and one further down her neck. She has no illness or fever and didn’t in the eye infection it was just a red eye.

im wondering if we can still put this down to the infection or if I need to get it looked at?

It sounds like you are describing a lump. When my glands swelled as a child it was my whole neck. My teen has a lump appear whenever she gets ill, gets quite large. But it’s because she’s ill. First had it when she had tonsillitis and the doctors confirmed it ever since then this happens. Went docs the the other day about something else and it was mentioned and he checked it all good. If it is a lump and it’s hard then you should go docs. I’d get it checked anyway just so you are reassured for the future.

I think it’s worth getting them checked, the Dr will probably want to do a blood test. I think the fact it’s more than one gland up it’s likely an underlying infection/post viral thing x

I went for my DS ear infection a while back and the paediatric nurse said his glands are raised, if it hasn’t cleared in 3 weeks come back and see me.

Misread your post. Worth a trip to the GP or at least send them a photo and a message and see what they say.
