hello I’m just looking for some advice please if anyone’s been through similar. I am the first to jump on Google for symptoms and fear I’ve terrified myself this time. Does anyone’s toddler have experience of DDH? A clicky hip/ limp. My little girl is now 17 months and has a slight limp n occasional clicky hip. She doesn’t seem to have one leg longer than the other or have the skin folds that Google mentioned. She does have good movements in her legs when getting her nappy done. She is at the doctors this week but just wondered if anyone has any experience/ advice? Did it lead to surgery?

My dd was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia at a couple of days old.
It was very severe and bilateral.
She had treatment for six months (pavlic harness and hip brace) and didn’t need surgery in the end.
If it’s not as bad it can be missed and unfortunately the early it is treated the better.
It could be very mild but definitely get it looked at.
The reason surgery becomes more likely as time goes on is because the bones have ossified (hardened) and the hip has developed and so the brace won’t work on its own.
You little one will probably need an X-ray and they will go from there.
It just depends on what’s actually going on in there and there’s only one way to find out.
Good luck xx
