22 month is old bruising - Concerning?

Hi All,
Had a previous bout of bruising aug last year with my 1yr old with random ‘dot’ bruises off the back of a viral infection, DD had bloods and looked normal from what they had but since a couple more has caught my eye!
I’m going to request another run of bloods to compare next week via the Drs but just to potentially ease my mind…
over the last 2 weeks, two quite deep bruises have appeared (different to the ones we noticed last yr) in arrears I wouldn’t call usual. She attends nursery and likely runs and has plenty of bumps but these bruises:

  1. On the bottom of her butt cheek (pic 1)
  2. On her tummy a few inches from her hip. (Pic 2 - as I saw it / Pic 3 - pulled a little at the skin to see if it was surface or quite deep)
Both quite dark deep blue bruises… Apologies for the quality of the photos as they aren’t the best but it’s more so where they are.

Any thoughts as to whether these would seem concerning?
Thanks!

My daughter has had ITP following an infection, it comes back every so often following an illness. We can tell from the random bruising. She isn’t treated for it as she has no other symptoms other than bruising. The drs can diagnose from a blood test and maybe it’s not ITP as you said a previous blood test was normal. But thought worth mentioning incase you hadn’t heard of it and it’s something to rule out.

There's no pics OP x

Thank you - I have absolutely thought of ITP & it feels likely but to add a little more context, over the last couple of days I’ve since found the following:

  • Forearm
  • knee
  • little dot one on head (she has had these in the same place a good few times! photo of now and of another time but have appeared maybe 4 times)
  • also in the past, not right now had ones on her feet, 3 different occasions.

(photos should be in order of above list)

Am I over thinking this!? 😣

When i was concerned about my daughters bruising, the bruise covered half her bum cheek for example. 15cm
She was ok BTW.

I don't think your photos look unusual

MummaSomething · 05/04/2026 11:27

@VividDeer Thank you - I know they look super underwhelming 😬I guess it’s just how some of them appear, in places that are unusual and turn up in the same places and some of them are deep and blue on soft tissue arrears.

I don’t believe they’ve all come from injury, so I guess that in itself is the reason I’m raising but just wondering if anyone had any experience of anything similar.

Shes well within herself, eating/drinking and no extra napping.
