Sudden blinking tic

My son is 6 and since Saturday he's developed rapid blinking of both eyes. He has a squint anyway which is monitored but I'm really concerned. He says they feel a bit sore) irritated but he's not good at communicating things. The doctor said to monitor it but I'm worried.

He's been so emotional over the last 6 months. He gets upset and angry easily and is exhausted. He's on iron supplements and waiting for possibly sleep apnea treatment but not sure if it's linked

Any words if wisdom?

My son had this the summer before ks1-2 transition. It was anxiety-he had grown out of it. We talked to him about it, then ignored it.

My daughter had this for a few months. It was around the time she was leaving nursery and moving to a pre-school.
I took her for an eye test which was fine. Then we just tried to ignore it and it resolved about a month after starting pre-school. X

DS had this age about 11. He was anxious during this period. He did grow out of it.
