Preparing 4-year-old for adenoid removal: videos to watch and recovery tips?

My 4 year old DS is due to have his adenoids out. Does anyone have any recommendations of videos for him to watch? Or anything we should take with us, or food to have at home after?

Thanks!

No prep needed. Just tell him about the magic cream before he goes to sleep.

they usually go home same day, but sleepy from anaesthetic.

ice cream is always a treat after but really doesn’t cause any issues.

I was coming on here to say 'ice cream' too. Is he having his tonsils out as well?

Not just saying this to make you feel better, but it is a doddle. One of my kids had it done and woke up from the GA like nothing had happened. Was eating Oreos on the sofa later that evening and apart from having stinky breath for a few days, it was all totally unremarkable.

One of my other children had his tonsils and grommets done at the same time which was a little tougher, but I think that was mostly the tonsils.

I don’t think I’d show him any videos.

One of mine sailed through it, his brother screamed when he woke up from the anaesthetic but calmed down quickly as soon as I was able to hold him.

Make sure you have his favourite toy to hand for when he wakes up.

And lots of ice cream in the freezer.
